ANNOUNCEMENTS

HAITIAN EARTHQUAKE RELIEF
ELCA Disaster Response is already working through long-standing partnerships on the ground to provide emergency food, water, shelter and medical supplies.  Financial gifts are urgently needed.  Your gifts to ELCA International Disaster Response, designated for Haiti Earthquake Relief, will be used entirely (100%) for immediate relief and ongoing recovery in Haiti.  Your prayers and generous gifts will make a life-saving difference.  Please give today at www.elca.org/haitiearthquake

FAITH AND LIGHT MINISTRY
is a time of worship, fellowship, and celebration for adults who have developmental disabilities.  This is an invitation to all members of our communities with developmental disabilities to join together monthly in worship, followed by activity and refreshments.  Our first interdenominational Service of Worship is March 6, 2010 at 6 PM hosted by Hope Lutheran Church.  The following services will be the first Saturday of each month, same time and place.

EMERGENCY HOUSING
is being held at area churches offering overnight accommodations out of the cold winter nights for those who are less fortunate. Please offer to cook dinner for approximately 6 to 8 people and/or stay over night at the First Church of Christ Scientist, 98 West Main, Freehold, on Friday evenings. Sign-up sheet is located on the table in the foyer or see John Bonanno if you have any questions or would like to volunteer.

EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN WORSHIP HYMNAL
The Evangelical Lutheran Worship hymnal bears the rich tradition of Christian worship practiced among Lutherans and, at the same time, seeks to renew that tradition in response to a generation of change in the church and in the world.  Dedications with $20 for each hymnal may be made anytime that you are in the church building. Envelopes are located on the round table.  Please complete the form (in honor or loving memory of a loved one) and place your donation in the envelope.

OPEN DOOR FOOD PANTRY
Open Door is a non-profit organization founded in 1970 as a joint mission effort of several local congregations. It began as a place where people could obtain clean, used clothing. In 1987 it was changed to a food pantry as it became apparent that hunger was a bigger need. Hope has been a supporter of the pantry from the beginning. Our members have actively served on the Board of Trustees and as volunteers. During the ensuing years the pantry has added other services. We now have an advocacy program, a hot lunch program, an after-school program for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders, and a scholarship program for high school graduates who have been in the after-school program and wish to continue their education.
Please continue to support Open Door through your monetary donations and through donations of  non-perishable food, toiletries, and baby items. Volunteers are always welcome. We are open from 10-2 Monday-Friday. Checks to Freehold Area Open Door are accepted, please note Hope Lutheran on the memo line. Mail to P.O. Box 1073, Freehold, NJ  07728.

MARY JANE ENRICHMENT HOUSE in Philadelphia (March 6 will be our 69th trip)
UPDATE: To my Hope family members: I would like to thank all of you who help contribute to the  success of this ministry.  I am humbled by your generosity and am appreciative of our accomplishments.   -John Bonanno.
Items needed: heavy duty disposable plates, cups, napkins, toilet tissue, plastic spoons/forks/knives may be brought to the church at any time.  Clothing and other items should be brought just before the next trip as we do not have room to store them.  If you need John to pick up from your home, please notify him at (609) 259-7932.

USE OF BUILDING
Everyone needs to be cognizant of the use of heat and A/C. PLEASE be sure the thermostats are lowered when you leave the rooms to 55 for heat and the air conditioners are off in the rooms or the thermostats in the narthex, sanctuary and foyer are adjusted so the electrical elements/ furnace or A/C are not running when the rooms are no longer in use. Conserve as you would at your home. ALSO, when leaving the building, be sure the doors are closed properly (especially if you are the last person leaving).

SMOKE-FREE AND NUT-FREE
Nut Free? We Try!!!      "No Nuts" please!
Because of our love and concern for those whose health is compromised by serious allergies to peanuts and tree nuts, it is the safety goal of Hope to try to eliminate nuts and products possibly contaminated by nut contact, from our premises. Read labels carefully. Please do not bring such items to Hope. If you handle or consume nut products elsewhere, please wash carefully before coming to church. Those with nut allergies should also continue to be vigilant in monitoring their food. We need everyone's help to contribute to this important safety goal. Thank you for you understanding.
NO MUNCHKINS!!!! Thanks!
Dunkin Donuts advise that any of their products may contain allergens, including peanuts.   ALSO, no sales of popcorn or cookies - these items may contain nuts or nut products and should not be opened or consumed on premises. Please transfer your items outside of the building.

SIMPLY GIVING
Through the Simply Giving program, your gifts are made through a pre-authorized withdrawal from your bank account.  You determine the frequency of your automatic gift - weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly - the option is yours.  Your gift is withdrawn from your account.  Your gift is deposited into Hope's bank account on the same day it  is withdrawn from your account.  It is reliable and safe.  Thrivent Financial for Lutherans offers this program and you do not need to be a member of the Thrivent programs to enroll in Simply Giving.  You may get the forms from the church office or at Thrivent's website.

THE OUTREACH COMMITTEE
needs your help! Please reach out to Ed Hudak @ 732-462-6253 or email hudak.edward@gmail.com if you would like to help his committee to reach out to prospective and new members, new member sponsors, donate frozen cookie dough, bring cookies to visitors, and/or visit members.

SOAP IS NEEDED
A brand new bar of soap contributes to cleanliness and dignity. LWR accepts new bars of any brand in its original wrapping. Bath-size bars are highly preferred.  Please bring a bar of soap to church along with $1.00 or more to help defray the shipping costs. LWR's approximate cost to
handle and ship an 18-pound carton of soap overseas is $11.60.
