MORE ANNOUNCEMENTS AND OPPORTUNITIES
Hospice Volunteer
Discover the joy of being a Hospice Volunteer
If you have a warm heart, a listening ear,
and the gift of compassion you can make a difference in the life of a hospice
patient or family member. Visiting Nurse Association of Central jersey
Hospice is providing training for all individuals interested in becoming
hospice volunteers in Monmouth, Middlesex or Ocean counties.
The course is taught by members of VNACJ
Hospice team on Thursdays, June 10 through June 24 (2010) from 9:30 AM
until 2:30 PM at VNACJ, 7 Centre Drive, Monroe. Volunteers must attend
all three sessions.

CONTACT of Ocean & Monmouth Counties
In past years, CONTACT of Ocean & Monmouth Counties has always
relied on members of area churches and synagogues to serve as volunteers
of our organization. The need today is crucial since we are here for our
callers 24/7 on the Crisis Intervention/Information of Referral Helpline.
We need to increase our volunteer base and would appreciate your assistance.
The next (12 week) training class for telephone volunteers for CONTACT
(24-hour crisis intervention hotline) will begin on Wednesday, February
3, 2010, from 6:30 - 9:30 PM in the Barnegat area. CONTACT, a free and
confidential service, has been assisting with the needs of individuals
throughout the community since 1975, by providing a safe place for callers
to talk about their problems with anonymity. For additional training information,
call CONTACT office - 732-240-6104.
Koinonia Highland Lake, N Y, was built by, and continues to be
sustained through the tremendous efforts of volunteers. Many people are
surprised when I, Steve Lee, Executive Director, tell them that Koinonia
is THEIR very own retreat center. Koinonia is not owned by one individual,
family, partnership or another organization. Koinonia is a "member corporation"
which means that the community "owns" the ministry. That’s you!
Consequently, the assets of Koinonia are your assets….the lake, the trails,
the fresh air, the joy of community, and the serenity of prayer.
When you invest in Koinonia by praying, inviting new guests, participating
in work day, or giving a financial gift… you are growing this ministry
- but you are also enriching yourself… you are investing in your own
spiritual growth and the spiritual growth of your family. As
you consider your priorities in life, remember your retreat center in Highland
Lake, New
York…. A place where you can find great abundance through Christ.
Further information about their Winter/Spring/Summer – Youth Camps &
Youth & Family Retreats, and numerous other programs are at your finger
tips – (800) 980-2267 or www.KoinoniaNY.org.
Contributions may be sent to 165 Lakeview Dr., Highland Lake, N Y 12743

Lutheran Social Ministries of New Jersey - LSM of Camden
Since 2007, LSM/NJ has been working on the transformation of an affordable
housing community in an economically depressed area of North Camden, formerly
known as the North Camden Land Trust. Working with state and local government
entities as well as homeowners and renters, LSM/NJ is re-shaping the future
of nearly 89 scattered home sites - as well as the lives of 80 families,
LSM of Camden is managing, rebuilding and renovating the homes in a community
plagued by gangs, drugs and community de-fragmentation, in order to revitalize
an area of North Camden that is rich with history.
New Visions Homeless Day Shelter in Camden
In 2009, LSM/NJ became the managing agent for New Visions, a homeless
day shelter for men, women, and children in Camden. This shelter provides
breakfast and lunch, shower and laundry facilities, a food pantry, a clothing
closet, mail services, and assists patrons in finding jobs. This ministry
serves between 125 and 200 people a day every week day.
Cars for Homes Program
Western Monmouth Habitat for Humanity

you are planning to replace, consider donating it to benefit our affiliate
through the Cars for Homes program. The vehicle does not need to be operable
- the Cars for Homes program will arrange to tow it away! For more information,

The Encore Thrift Store 1220 Route 166, Toms River, NJ in
the Stellar Town Shopping Plaza accepts donations of "gently used" clothing
and accessories, jewelry and home décor items. However, they do not have
the room to accept large appliances, stuffed animals, children’s clothing
or baby items. This store not only supports a hotel in Manhattan that provides
low cost rooms to our military, but also provides needed clothing, etc
at a very affordable prices for its clientele. Please remember this
organization when you are ready to clean-out your home of unwanted items
and if you have the opportunity, please visit the shop. I had the opportunity
to visit this store this week and it is a great place. Feel free to contact
me for more information regarding donations or directions to the store.
