HOPE ANCHORS 2009-2010
LOOK WHAT WE'VE DONE!
The Hope Anchors started the year off with a trip to Giamarese Farm. The kids went on a hayride and had the opportunity to pick their very own pumpkins. In December we had our annual Gingerbread House decorating event. We would like to give special thanks to Bill Seifert for coming to our meeting and speaking to the kids about Habitat for Humanity. This helped the kids get a better understanding of this outreach program our Church helps to support. In January, the kids and their families laced up their skates at the Jackson Roller skating rink. We enjoyed a wonderful lunch, followed by a lot of skating and a little "Hokey Pokey". Even a couple of the Senior High found their way there. (Rosie and Nicole)

Our next activity was to prepare the kids for our service project. We decided to offer our help to the Ronald McDonald House in Long Branch. We watched a movie about the history of the program and how it got started. Then the kids collected travel size toiletry items to place in "Welcome" bags that the kids decorated and made special cards for. Also we collected pop-tops that the house uses to help offset the costs of running the home. Along with the Senior High, our kids went to Long Branch and had the opportunity to tour the house. Then they got nice and dirty by helping with some gardening projects that needed to be done. The Senior High made a wonderful meal to serve to the guest staying at the house.

In April, the kids met at the Wall Arena for some fun time. The kids were able to participate in Laser Tag, eat some pizza, enjoy an ice cream sundae bar and have free time in the arcade. All who attended had a wonderful time. Finally, the kids were involved in the planning of the Herb and Flower sale. This year the kids painted some of the pots that the plants were in. What a bunch of talented artists we have! A very special thank you needs to be express to Erica Driscoll who not only grew the herbs from seeds, but also planted and donated her time and effort. This sale wouldn't have been possible without all of her help. All proceeds of the sale will be used to host our year-end BBQ. The year-end BBQ will be hosted by the Driscoll's on June 13th. (If raining it will be in Fellowship Hall). Third graders who are moving up into Fourth grade are invited to attend to find out more about our exciting group.

Please read the youth board for all activities and changes.
