Hope Christian School March/April 2008
MRS. LINDA ADAM'S FOUR-YEAR OLD CLASSES
April has been such a
busy month. On our return to school after our Easter Vacation we
went into church with Pastor Medley where we sang some songs, and listened
as Pastor reviewed the Easter Story with us again. All the children
were such wonderful listeners, and singers. Spring is really here!
We have made many crafts that have reinforced the concept of spring, robins,
rabbits, ducks, kites, umbrellas, and our crosses that remind us of the
gerat love of God and Jesus, we also have had hat day, and bear day.
Our class bear Wally has almost visited all the students in our class and
he would like to thank you all for taking the time to feed him, play with
him, take him on trips and for taking all those wonderful photos of his
experiences. He will treasure them always, as will I.
The policeman came to
visit us. He showed us a video and then we went outside to see his
car and motorcycle. Patrolman Todd Smith taught us the importance
of calling 911 only in an emergency, not talking to strangers, and about
many other safety issues, and most importantly that the policeman is our
friend.
Hopefully the children
have talked to you about the caterpillars that we had in our classroom.
They have all turned into cocoons, and we are all anxiously awaiting the
birth of our butterflies. The whole class is so very excited as it
should happen any day now. The children are having a lot of fun completing
our alphabet dot-to-dots, and they are getting very proficient at it.
Keep up this enjoyable activity at home also.
All the teachers and
classes are looking forward to our Mother's Day tea on Wednesday May 7th
at 10:45 to 11:15. All of the children, in my class, will be attending
the morning tea and the afternoon children may either stay to lunch or
then go to their regular class in the afternoon, or you may take them home
immediately following the tea and return with them for the regular scheduled
class at 12:45.
The children are all
looking forward to their spring program and blessings on Wednesday May
21st. Again, as we did for our Christmas program, all the children
will come to school at 9:00 a.m. that day and will be dismissed immediately
following the program. The program starts immediately at 9:15 a.m.
There will not be a lunch bunch that day. Also, the 5 day class will
not have classes on the Thursday. All children will return to school
on Tuesday May 27th.
Many happy returns are
extended to our June, July and August birthdays. They are as follows:
June 6th Kira
July 14th Taylor,
and Grace on the 30th
August 29th Macie
Just as a reminder, now that
the weather has improved we are in the playground so please make sure that
your child is wearing sneakers, not sandals or flip flops.
See you for our Mother's
Day Tea, and a very happy May Day to you all.

MRS. FLOHR'S TERRIFIC 3'S AND FABULOUS 4'S
April Showers bring May
Flowers.
We have had lots of rain
showers and some beautiful weather this past April. We are all enjoying
our playground. It's so much fun to get to play outside with our
classmates.
Our 3's are finished
being introduced to numbers 1 through 10. We are reinforcing our
numbers, colors and shapes daily. We are practicing our scissor skills
as well. We will be finishing up our first book about a favorite
"Brown Bear." I know you'll be surprised at how your child can "read"
a story! Please help your child become more self-confident by helping
them write their first name at home. Please use a capital letter
for the first letter and then all lower case letters. The children
put forth such great effort in school. I'd like to see that reinforced
at home.
Our 4's are doing lots
of upper case or lower case alphabet dot-to-dot as well as number dot-to-dots.
We are doing so very well with this. We can all write our first and
last name. They are getting ready for Kindergarten. Some children
have already had their Kindergarten registration. Time flies by so
quickly.
We have enjoyed a special
visit from our friend, Police Office Smith from Freehold Township.
Thank you for helping us learn about 911 and emergencies. We looked
at all of your special equipment and watched a short video about Police
Officers. We all got to see your brand new car, donated to Freehold
Township by Dodge. We loved seeing the flashing lights, and hearing
your police car siren. We also got to see the police motorcycle.
That was awesome! Thanks so much for the great coloring book and
finger print kit!
We had caterpillars arrive
mid-April. The caterpillars have all formed into their chrysalis.
We are anxiously awaiting their new life - as Painted Lady Butterflies.
We will set them free in our Butterfly Garden in about 2 weeks time.
That is always so exciting.
Did you know we planted
sunflower seeds last week? Seeds need soil, water and sun to grow!
Our seeds sprouted very quickly. Please plant your child's seedlings
in your garden at home. It is wonderful to share the joy of gardening
with your child.
As May is now here, we
are making lots of beautiful flowers, and preparing for our
Mother's Day Tea Program. Did you look inside your teacup for your
invitation? We look forward to having our Mothers come in to enjoy
such a special treat with your child. We have lots of surprises waiting
for you? Happy
Mother's Day to each and every one of you!
We also celebrated some
April birthdays. Daniel and Tricia are now 4. Jacob and Coltin
are now 5. Happy Birthday to our friends. We will be celebrating
Jake's 4th birthday on May 6.
Our Spring Concert and
Blessing Program is coming up very quickly. On Wednesday, May 21,
our a.m. and p.m. Fab 4's will be gathering in the morning. On Thursday,
May 22, our Terrific 3's will be having their Program. This is always
such a special time for you and your family. Just a reminder, there
is no lunch bunch on program days.
Looking foward to seeing
our Moms at the Tea Party.

MRS. COSTELLO'S MWF AM THREE YEAR OLDS
Hello and Happy Spring
to everyone!! Our class officially welcomed in the new season right
after the Easter break as our study of the seasons came full circle since
we all first came together last September. We also continued to discuss
the story of Easter when we returned, and we attended Easter chapel conducted
by Pastor Medley on Wed., 4/2. Easter and Spring are a time of new
life, and together we celebrate that in class each day with our songs,
poems, prayers, and Bible stories, and we search for new signs of life
around us. Not only do we see signs of new life out on the playground
but in our classroom as well. We have been carefully monitoring the
lifecycle of our classroom caterpillars. We saw that they built cocoons,
and now we anxiously wait for the the butterflies to emerge. We planted
sunflower seeds at the end of the month, and everyone is excited to see
the new life springing from the soil. Our unit on "The Five Senses"
helped us to understand how the gifts of seeing, hearing, touching, tasting,
and smelling help us to identify, explore, and appreciate our surroundings.
The children really loved making applesauce and playdough as part of this
unit!!
Special events this month
included Hat Day on 4/9 and Bear Day on 4/16. I really enjoyed seeing
the children in their hats; there was quite a unique and adorable assortment!
Bear Day was also lots
of fun. As part of the celebration, everyone got to take his/her
bear to the movies that day to see the short film, "Teddy Bear's Picnic."
On Friday, 4/25, Officer Todd Smith of the Freehold Township Police Department
came to school and taught the children all about the job, uniform, and
equipment of a police officer and about what to do in case of an emergency.
Please continue to practice 9-1-1 at home.
The children were quite
excited when we reached the number 10 on our wall chart. They are
doing very well with identifying, counting, and grouping the numbers.
(Sometimes, we have a little mix-up with 6 and 9, but as you know that
is understandable and common.) We will continue to review and work
with the numbers 1-10 for the rest of the year. Congratulations to
all - everyone can now write his/her name! I am so proud of them!!
By now, all of the moms
should have received an invitation to our Mother's Day Tea on Wed., 5/7
at 10:45 a.m. The children have been busy working on a couple of
surprises, which is why there are a few days when they do not come home
with a craft.
We are all really looking
forward to our tea party with the mommies. I am also looking forward
to seeing everyone at our annual Spring Concert and Blessing program on
Wed., 5/21 at 9:15 a.m. (Please, remember that we do need the children
in the classroom at the regular time.) Our class' last day of school
is on Wed., 6/4. There will be no Show and Tell on 5/7, 5/21, and
6/4.
In April, we celebrated
Elizabeth H's birthday (4/15). Happy 4th birthday Elizabeth!
In May, we will celebrate the birthdays of Alyse W (5/5) and Michael B
(5/21). We will also be celebrating the birthdays of our friends
born in the summer: Anthony M (8/19) and Christian F (9/1).
I can hardly believe
that the end of the school year is coming so quickly. In fact, I
don't want to think about it because I will miss this wonderful group of
bright, sweet, considerate, and fun children too much!!! I really
do feel fortunate to be with them and to be their teacher!! As always,
call me if you have any questions or concerns, and many thanks to Mrs.
Gallego, Mrs. Galli, and Mrs. Venditti!!!
  Most
sincerely,
-----Mrs. Marie Costello

MRS. EVIE FREUDENBERGER'S THREE YEAR OLD CLASSES
I hope you all had a wonderful
Easter and vacation. As we went to Chapel with Pastor Medley, the
children listened intently while Pastor told the Easter story and then
we sang a few songs to Pastor. I was very proud of how well the children
sat in Church and listened to the story.
As we begin this beautiful
month of May with "New Life" surrounding us, we are thankful to God for
all the beauty in our world. Perhaps you have heard about our caterpillars
in class, they recently made their cocoons. So exciting for all to
watch and admire this beautiful circle of life.
Last week our friend,
Todd Smith from the Freehold Township Police Department came to our school.
We watched a video and learned ways to be safe. Todd Smith talked
about his uniform and some of the tools he has such as his handcuffs.
The highlight was seeing the new Police car and another policeman brought
his motorcycle. We really enjoyed the sirens and flashing lights.
It rains a lot in the
spring and we certainly need the rain God sends us. All the beautiful
flowers blooming and the trees with buds opening and the grass turning
a beautiful green. We enjoyed making our umbrellas and singing a
few songs about rain.
We are presently working
on our Mother's day gifts. The children were so excited as they drew
a picture of their Mom and answered a few questions about their Mom.
We are also learning songs pertaining to moms. The children will
be presenting you with your Mother's Day gift at our "Tea" on May 8th at
10:45 for the morning class and 2:30 for the afternoon children.
I do hope you will all be able to attend.
We are still working
on our numbers and the boys and girls are doing very well recognizing and
writing the numbers. Please continue to review numbers, colors and
shapes at home as well as printing their name.
It's hard to believe
that our school year is approaching the end - where did the year go?
I have thoroughly enjoyed working in class with each and every child, all
so special.
I want to say thank you
once again to my loving and dedicated classroom aides: Irene Booth,
Nancy Feuster, Amy Chinai and Sue Venditti. Many thanks for a
wonderful year!
We celebrate our May
birthdays; Mrs. Evie Freudenberger, born on Mother's Day and Mrs. Nancy
Feuster share the same birthday, May 11th. Children that will celebrate
summer birthdays are:
 |
Shannon, June 7 |
Liam, June 12 |
Douglas, June 14 |
 |
|
Bella, June 18 |
Olivia, Sept. 12 |
|
|
I'll close wishing all the
moms a "Happy Mother's Day"
